Trust Work Parties at SJP

The Trust organises several work parties each season in support of ECFC, whether it be cleaning the terraces after matches or giving the stands a lick of paint.  We will update this page with regular work party news and updates. [page updated 03/05/17]

Post-match clean-ups

One little way to help our club is to stay behind after a match and help clear up the rubbish from the stands. This frees up the ground staff to get on with the job of maintaining the hallowed SJP turf. All you need do is a grab a bag from the bins at the front of your stand or find a fellow helper with one and we then work together to clear away as much of the rubbish we can.  If you cannot stay for very long, even encouraging your friends to pick up their own litter and put it in the bin helps.

Summer 2017 Work Parties at the Park

To prepare St James Park for the 2017/18 football season the club is hosting a weekend of ‘scrape, paint, wash and scrub’ within the stadium on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July 2017.

Supporters are invited to come along and join stadium manager Mark Latham to help spruce up the stadium in readiness for next season.

This will ensure that it is ready to accept supporters, both home and away, and will make sure they are able to enjoy the pleasant surroundings of our family orientated Club throughout their visit.

Jobs will involve:

  • Scrape: Away old flaking paint
  • Re-paint: All barriers, gates, kiosks and handrails
  • De-weed: Around the pitch outer perimeter
  • Scrape: Chewing gum from terrace stairways
  • Wash: Advertising hoardings and other surfaces

If you are able to please bring any of the following, please do: wire brushes, paint brushes, rubber gloves, dust sheets, buckets, brooms, dustpan and brush and cloths.

You’re guaranteed a warm welcome, and refreshments will be provided.

Speaking about the event, Mark Latham said: “This is a job that has needed doing for quite some time, but we have never had the manpower to take it on. We will be delighted to welcome plenty of volunteers to St James Park to make a difference for their club

Every extra pair of hands will make a big difference. As a supporter-owned club it’s important we get the fans involved.”

Date: Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July 2017
Times: 10:00am – 16:00 each day

You are welcome to just turn up on the day; however if you want more details or to confirm you plan to attend, please email
