Trust Work Parties at SJP
The Trust organises several work parties each season in support of ECFC, whether it be cleaning the terraces after matches or giving the stands a lick of paint. We will update this page with regular work party news and updates. [page updated 25/11/15]
One little way to help our club is to stay behind after a match and help clear up the rubbish from the stands. This frees up the ground staff to get on with the job of maintaining the hallowed SJP turf. All you need do is a grab a bag from the bins at the front of your stand or find a fellow helper with one and we then work together to clear away as much of the rubbish we can. If you cannot stay for very long, even encouraging your friends to pick up their own litter and put it in the bin helps.
Sunday Work Parties at the Park
As we know our quirky stadium is beginning to show its age and SJP is now in need of a little TLC. Although Club staff and our brilliant volunteers continue to work hard on our stadium it really is a time consuming job, and they need a little help. So work parties take place every Sunday morning from 10 – 12. Come in your old clothes, meet at the Grecian Centre in Red Square and we’ll provide everything else you need.
Update 25/11/15: There will be no more Sunday morning work parties until after Christmas, when we’ll turn our attention to the entrance to the Old Grandstand. Sincere thanks to everyone who has volunteered since August. In that time we’ve painted all doors and turnstiles from the Big Bank, through Red Square & along St James Road behind the away end. We hope you can join us in 2016 after our Christmas break, and don’t forget you can continue to help by clearing up rubbish from the stands after each home game!
Update 25/10/15: Today saw volunteers apply the red gloss to the away end gates. Thanks to Trevor Blatchford, Paul Rowbotham, Lisa Court, Harry Court, Martin Weiler, Elaine Davis and Clive Davis.
Update 27/09/15: Sunday 27th Sept and Sunday 4th October are dedicated to painting the away end gates and turnstiles. Prep work and undercoating will take place on 27 Sept, with the glossing on Sunday 4 October. If you can help, please come along to the away end for 10am.
Update 20/09/15: A fine morning at the park saw our work party regulars tackle the entrance to the “Flybe Stand” in Stadium Way. Now sporting a top coat of brilliant red gloss, this entrance is looking much smarter than in recent weeks. More information here.
